North Macedonia

MES

The Macedonian Ecological Society (MES) is a civil society organisation active in the field of ecology and environmental protection. MES achieves its goals by implementing and participating in projects and by organising professional and scientific meetings. In addition to focusing on scientific research, MES strengthens its capacity by training its members and empowering young scientists. Since 2006, MES is part of the Balkan Lynx Recovery Programme (BLRP).

Albania

PPNEA

Founded in 1991, the Protection and Preservation of Natural Environment in Albania (PPNEA) is Albania's pioneering environmental NGO. PPNEA focuses on nature conservation through scientific research, community engagement and cooperation with various institutions. Since 20056, PPNEA has been part of the Balkan Lynx Recovery Programme (BLRP), implementing strategies to protect the critically endangered Balkan lynx (Lynx lynx balcanicus) and its habitat in Albania.

Kosovo

ERA

ERA (Environmentally Responsible Action group) is an environmental organisation based in Peja, Kosovo, founded in 2003. ERA joined the Balkan Lynx Recovery Programme (BLRP) in 2013 to protect the critically endangered Balkan lynx (Lynx lynx balcanicus) and its habitat. The organisation focuses on research, monitoring and community engagement to promote biodiversity conservation. ERA also prioritises environmental education and the involvement of local communities in sustainable practices, making a significant contribution to the conservation of Kosovo's natural landscapes.

Germany

EuroNatur

EuroNatur is a charitable foundation established in 1987 and based at Lake Constance in Germany. The foundation's nature and species conservation projects help to preserve the beauty and diversity of Europe's nature. EuroNatur protects large natural landscapes as well as ecologically valuable cultural landscapes throughout Europe. The foundation emphasises cooperation with local partner organisations and provides the necessary support to its partners in the EuroNatur project areas to enable them to protect nature effectively. EuroNatur has been involved in the Balkan Lynx Recovery Program since its inception in 2006.

Switzerland

KORA

KORA is a foundation based in Switzerland. Its aim is the conservation of wildlife, especially large carnivores, in the cultural landscape. KORA is responsible for the national monitoring of large carnivores and leads several scientific projects focusing on species such as wolves, lynx, wildcats, bears or golden jackals. Since the start of the BLRP in 2006, KORA has been involved as international scientific partner, mainly providing scientific expertise and supporting the programme's communication objectives and strategic development.
